Absolutely fabulous authentic Mexican food! Handmade corn tortillas and homemade horchata.
It's been REALLY hard for us to find a decent or good authentic taco place around here. We just wanted to find one where they weren't afraid to use salt or spice. We came here during lunch and hubby got one of their daily lunch specials, an enchilada and tamale with rice and beans. I had to try their traditional tacos, asada, pastor and lengua. We also got the street corn which was really tasty snd packed with flavor. I enjoyed my tacos more than any other place I've been. I asked for some salsa verde and personally I do not think it was homemade, definitely from a jar. My server was so nice and attentive, his colleagues were also helpful in taking plates ways when we finished. I do think I'll come back again because everything tasted good, flavorful and the service was nice.
If you want to have authentic Mexican food, you have to come to La Mixteca. It's a full experience. It's not only beautifully set up with hand made wooden chairs but the food is amazing! The service is very friendly . Every dish is made with fresh ingredients with recipes from Mexico. The owners are from Oaxaca, one of Mexico's most gastronomically and culturally rich states. As a picky Mexican eater, I definitely give this place 5 stars.
Really good Mexican food, loved the taste and atmosphere of the place. Great family place to go to and if you're feeling some Mexican food I definitely recommend recommend this spot!
I was a little hesitant based on the mixed reviews but since this is so close to my house, I decided to give a try. I am so glad I did. Truly authentic Mexican food not Tex Amex. Pollo Fajitas we're fantastic as were the sauces. They gave Molcajete which I will try next time. Will be back.
Once we walked in, we were quickly taken to our table where we ordered our drinks and food. The place reminded me a lot of the movie coco because of the Alebrijes design on the chairs. The dishes and mugs are so cute I wish I could take one (obviously I can't). Our waitress was super kind and friendly. The food was ssooooo good, big plate of food too. Definitely coming back and inviting friends too
I just moved here from one of the most diverse cities in California and this food reminds me of home.. food is authentic, staff is friendly, it's authentic real traditional Mexican food. If you're coming in with the mindset of Tex-Mex then you've come to the wrong place. Nonetheless the food was incredible and came out within 10 minutes. I will be coming back here 100%
Tiki Taco, you have some solid competition for the best, most authentic Mexican food in the area! This little place tucked next door to Momo is like stepping into abuelita's kitchen. The menu is small and everything is freshly prepared and perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had cabeza and lengua tacos, and the tongue was so tender and juicy, like it had been braised all day. I had a pork sope and it was a dream: crisp, light, delicately sweet and piled high with seasoned meat, onions, cilantro, and cotija. I want five more! I had read about the not-to-be-missed agua fresca, so asked what the agua fresca of the day was and the waitress said, "Horchata." I must have looked confused because she said, "Watermelon." Now we're talking! I got a big mug of it and it was super-refreshing, especially after I took a bite of the grilled pepper. It's always so hot but so delicious I can't resist. Others in my party got chicken and steak tacos and they were all pleased. The red sauce is HOT but has an amazing flavor so give it a taste. Service was a bit spotty, but it was busy at lunchtime with only one waitress and a manager, both of whom were very friendly, and we were the only gringos in the place, which to me speaks to the authenticity of the food. It was a bit warm inside, as the AC seemed to have a hard time competing with the centralized open grill, but it's the South in summer, so... I am thrilled to have some amazing Mexican food this close to home and anticipate becoming a regular here, especially since they do take-out. A dozen sopes, please! See you soon!
